Rad Plaid

Over the weekend, I did something new and exciting: For the first time ever, I went to the Farmer's Market.
I must say, I'm a changed woman.  The Orange Juice? Divine! My husband and I devoured a carton in less than 24 hours.
In addition, we got a jar of pineapple-tangerine jam to spread on morning toast and home-grown raspberries that tasted fresh off the bush.
I might have to make a habit of this.

Obsessions

Shadows in the Sand.

Fro-yo with fresh fruit and shredded coconut.

My husband is a Steeler fan, so I could only support Green Bay in small ways. :)

Chocolate-flavored Cafe Con Leche at Bern's Steakhouse.  That's right. Chocolate flavored.

Rascal the baby squirrel (I rescued him from my backyard.)

Flashback: Viva Las Vegas!

{Fresh flower globes sent their delicate scent through the foyer at the Wynn.}

In May of 2009, I took a road-trip from San Diego (where I was visiting my Uncle) to Las Vegas.  Recognized as the gambling/partying capital of the country, I doubted my enjoyment of the city- I'm definitely more homebody than party girl.
It was a pleasant surprise to find Vegas has more to offer than casinos and clubs.  My husband and I lucked out with a high-rise corner room at the Wynn, where bay windows offered an amazing view of the strip.  A lively atmosphere combined with phenomenal shows, top-rated restaurants, and hotels each more glamorous than the last made Vegas a rest-stop I'll never forget.

{Gazing up through the glass at the Lion Exhibit in the MGM Grand.}

{Chihuly Glass adorned the Bellagio ceiling.}

{Walking like an Egyptian outside of the Luxor.}

{Iceland Poppies were my instant favorite at the Bellagio Flower Garden.}

{Famous Fountains outside of the Bellagio Hotel.  So beautiful!}

Denim Squared

Not too long ago, the very notion of denim on denim would have left a bad taste in my mouth.  Immediately, I'd conjure images of the teenagers on "Saved By the Bell" with their acid washed jeans and ill-fitted denim jackets.  However, given the right shades and materials, denim squared is now one of my favorite fashion statements.  Who'd have thought it?
